Bhaderwah town has recently become the hub of commercial activities as many Bollywood production houses are thronging the Valley to shoot movies and web series.
The shooting of web series titled ‘Regard and Peace’ culminated recently. It will be telecast on Amazon and Netflix.
A director of the series said after some good episodes shot in Bhaderwah were aired on Netflix, his team approached the authorities in the town for the shoot.
“Bhaderwah has scenic locales which ensure the best cinematography. Many Bollywood houses are looking forward to shoot their new ventures here,” said Rajinder Kumar Khajuria, chief executive officer, Bhaderwah Development Authority.
Khajuria said last year also, three important web series and a film were shot in Bhaderwah which has recently become the most sought-after place for Mumbai film directors.
‘No fathers in Kashmir’, shot at Bhaderwah, is an upcoming Hindi-English-Urdu-Kashmiri language drama film directed by Oscar-nominated Ashvin Kumar. The film stars Zara Webb, Ashvin Kumar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Anshuman Jha and Natasha Mago, and is scheduled to release on April 5.
A mini TV series ‘India Strikes-10 Days’ was also shot at Bhaderwah. The film is based on the events in the wake of the 2016 Uri terror attack.
Amir Rafeeqi, publicity manager in the authority, said “Since the flow of Bollywood production houses at Bhaderwah, tourist influx has also increased which is a good sign. Though only people from the state are coming to watch the shoots in the town, the message is spreading far and wide and we are expecting a tourism boost in the upcoming season”.
